Presentación

En general mis intereses de investigación se centran en la relación entre el funcionamiento del sistema nervioso y los procesos psicológicos del ser humano, tanto en condiciones normales como patológicas. Es así que mi área principal de investigación ha sido, en los últimos años, el estudio de la cognición humana desde las “Neurociencias Cognitivas” y principalmente a través del análisis de medidas neurofisiológicas como el Electroencefalograma, los Potenciales Relacionados a Eventos, y otras señales bioeléctricas. En este contexto me he dedicado a estudiar procesos cognitivos como la memoria y sus alteraciones y, más recientemente, la atención y sus alteraciones en patologías de alta incidencia en salud mental como el Trastorno de Déficit de Atención e Hiperactividad (TDAH). Particularmente he estudiado la dinámica de distribución de recursos de atención en los dominios espacial y temporal en niños sanos y con TDAH, bajo la hipótesis general de que existen diferentes estilos de atender y que estos resultarían implícitamente modificables por la experiencia.

Actualmente me interesa el estudio funcional del sistema nervioso en los procesos que implican la comprensión del “otro”, la atribución de intención, la empatía y la construcción conjunta de significado en la interacción social. Estos procesos son en extremo importantes en el desarrollo psicológico del individuo, se ven transversalmente afectados en múltiples afecciones de salud mental.
